Section 01
Overview
This Privacy Policy governs your use of Air Quality Index ("App", "Service"), a real-time air quality monitoring and weather application created and developed by AppAspect Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("we", "us", or "our"). The App is available on both the Google Play Store (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS) and is designed to help users monitor air pollution levels, track key pollutants, view weather conditions, and make informed health and travel decisions.
By downloading, installing, or using the App on either platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Section 02
About the App & Key Features
Air Quality Index is a comprehensive environmental monitoring companion available on both Android and iOS that keeps you informed about the air you breathe and the weather around you.
Section 03
AQI Levels Explained
The App uses the standard Air Quality Index scale on both platforms to categorise pollution levels and provide health guidance.
Section 04

Section 07
Non-Personal Information
The App automatically collects limited non-personal, non-identifiable information to improve performance and serve advertisements:
- Device model, OS version, and device language.
-
Android: Google Advertising ID (GAID) —
resettable device-level identifier used by AdMob.
iOS: Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) — subject to App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent on iOS 14.5+. - App activity: city searches, AQI categories viewed, features accessed, session duration (anonymised via Firebase Analytics).
-
Android: ANR (Application Not Responding)
reports and crash logs.
iOS: Crash logs and diagnostic data (via Firebase Crashlytics). - General geographic region (derived from location) included in analytics data.
- IP address used to connect your device to the internet (used by data APIs and ad networks).
- Favourite places saved locally on your device — not transmitted to our servers.
Section 08
Location & GPS Data
Location is the primary data point this App uses to deliver its core value — on both Android and iOS. Here is exactly how your location is used:
- Automatic local AQI detection — your GPS coordinates are sent to our AQI data providers to find the nearest monitoring station and display current pollution levels.
- Local weather conditions — your location is used to fetch temperature, humidity, wind speed, and weekly weather forecasts.
- Map view — your coordinates determine the initial map centre, showing AQI levels for nearby cities with colour-coded overlays.
- Nearby city discovery — your coordinates are used to suggest AQI data for cities in your vicinity.
- Analytics region data — a general geographic region (not precise GPS) is included in anonymised Firebase Analytics reports.
- Ad delivery — general location may be used by Google AdMob to serve geographically relevant advertisements on both platforms.
Android: Settings → Apps → Air Quality Index → Permissions → Location → Deny
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Air Quality Index → Never
Section 09
AQI & Weather Data Sources
Air Quality Index aggregates environmental data from trusted third-party data providers and monitoring networks on both platforms. We do not generate or own the AQI or weather data displayed in the App. All data is sourced in real time from external APIs and monitoring stations. By using the App, you acknowledge that:
- AQI readings are real-time estimates and may differ from official government monitoring stations.
- Data availability and accuracy depend on the density of monitoring stations in your area.
- Your location coordinates are transmitted to these data providers to retrieve relevant local data on both Android and iOS.
- These data providers operate under their own privacy policies and terms of service.
Section 10
Advertising
Air Quality Index is a free application supported by advertisements via Google AdMob on both Android and iOS. AdMob uses a platform-specific advertising identifier to serve relevant ads.
- Android — GAID: Resettable Google Advertising ID for ad personalisation.
- iOS — IDFA: Apple's Identifier for Advertisers, used only after ATT permission is granted on iOS 14.5+.
- Device model, OS version, and language for contextual ad targeting.
- General location for geographically relevant advertisements.
- Ad impression and click interaction events.
Android 11 and below: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation
iOS 14.5+: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Air Quality Index → Toggle off
No specific AQI readings, pollutant data, or health-related information about your location is used for ad targeting on either platform.
Section 11
Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics on both platforms to understand how users interact with the App and to fix stability issues. No personal data is included.
Firebase Analytics collects: app events (city searches, features accessed), screen views, session duration, device model, OS version, app version, and general geographic region. Firebase Crashlytics collects: crash stack traces, ANR reports (Android) / crash diagnostics (iOS), and device state at crash time. All data is anonymised. By using the App, you accept the Firebase Analytics Terms.
Section 12
Third-Party Services
Air Quality Index integrates the following trusted third-party services across both Android and iOS. Your location is shared with AQI and weather data providers and the mapping service to deliver the App's core functionality.
Section 13
Device Identifiers
The App uses platform-specific resettable advertising identifiers for ad delivery. These are not linked to your personal identity.
| Platform | Identifier | Description | Used For | Shared? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Android | GAID | Resettable Google Advertising ID | Ad delivery (AdMob) | Yes – AdMob |
| iOS | IDFA | Resettable Apple Advertising Identifier (ATT-gated) | Ad delivery (AdMob, if ATT granted) | Yes – AdMob |
| Both | Firebase App Instance ID | Per-install, anonymous identifier | Analytics grouping | No (Firebase only) |
Android 11 and below: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation
iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off Air Quality Index
Section 14
Data Retention
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Favourite places (city list) | Stored locally until removed by user or App is uninstalled |
| Location data | Processed in real time for API requests; not stored persistently on our servers |
| AQI & weather data | Displayed in real time; not stored persistently by us |
| Firebase Analytics events | Up to 14 months (Google Firebase default) |
| Firebase Crashlytics logs | Up to 90 days (Firebase Crashlytics default) |
| Ad interaction data (GAID / IDFA) | Per Google AdMob retention policy (up to 18 months) |
iOS: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored favourites and preferences. Analytics and crash data will age out per the retention periods above.
Section 15
Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable safeguards on both platforms:
- HTTPS / TLS encryption for all data transmitted between the App and external AQI, weather, mapping, analytics, and advertising services.
- Local-only storage for favourite places and preferences — stored in the platform's private app storage, inaccessible to other apps.
- Platform sandbox security — both Android and iOS isolate the App's data from other applications.
- Transactional location use — location coordinates are used only for the duration of the API request and are not retained by us after the response is returned.
- iOS Keychain — sensitive tokens on iOS are stored in the hardware-backed Keychain.
Section 16
Children's Privacy
Air Quality Index is a general environmental information application available on both platforms. The App does not collect personal information. However, the App does share location data with third-party AQI and weather data services — parents and guardians should be aware of this when allowing children to use the App.
For family use: Android — manage location permissions via Google Family Link. iOS — use Screen Time parental controls and deny the ATT prompt. On both platforms, children can use the manual City Selector to browse AQI data worldwide without granting location permission.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on either platform.
Section 17
